Teach us to run, to finish the race
For only what's done in love will remain
The Midland Parade of Homes is coming up next month and I am pleased to say that Kahler Homes of Midland has started construction on our model tiny house!
On Monday, Briana and Truma came out with me on the truck. I loved serving alongside my family and it made me excited for our lifestyle of service with our children. All of our friends on the streets light up when they see Briana and Truma, and I’m a little jealous, honestly. Truma helped us fill bags of food and provided an opportunity for our friends to laugh as she played peek-a-boo in the back of the food truck.
There have been lots of other little things that have slowly taken our attention off course one degree at a time. I have continued to work on the development of the Field's Edge but in my business minded autopilot—just doing what needs to be done to move forward. I came to the realization Sunday night that I had lost my focus. Yes we are still called to pursue the development of a tiny home community to lift our friends off the streets, but why? Is it to do some social good and help people that are struggling? Yes and no.
We continue to be amazed at the connections and relationships that God is bringing about. This week already I have had meetings with several coalitions, city officials, psychiatrists, developers and more. Every piece of this large puzzle is coming together and the only possible way it is happening is the Lord.
There are several meetings we are preparing for that we know will be difficult and may not go well. However, we know that God will open the hearts of people in our community who we really need alongside us. Therefore we will continue to sow seeds for the Lord not knowing if they will succeed but trusting Him anyways.
There’s something about an RV that just doesn’t feel like a home. Part of it is the feeling of the interior with everything designed to be ultra-light. Nothing feels solid, but mostly it’s just hard to put roots down and get settled when there are wheels between us and the ground. Everything we own can be moved in a matter of minutes, and to the modern nomads on HGTV that is what freedom looks like. For us seeking to cultivate home, it is not the ideal setup.
