STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Field's Edge was founded under the pretense that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be the cornerstone of every decision made, every Neighbor brought home, and every staff member hired. See our Statement of Faith below to understand our hearts for the Gospel and sincere convictions.
The mission of The Field’s Edge is to promote human dignity by cultivating
home for the homeless and empowering a lifestyle of service for the glory of
Christ.

word of God. The Bible is the supreme and final authority in testing
claims about what is true and right.

Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred, created by God in His image, and
deserving of protection from the moment of conception. Abortion is not a
choice, but the deliberate taking of an innocent life—an act of murder that
violates the 6th Commandment (Exodus 20:13). We oppose all forms of
abortion, including surgical and chemical abortions, which intentionally end
the life of a pre-born child. We also oppose the destruction or discarding of
embryos, as every human life, regardless of its stage of development, has
inherent worth and dignity. Every human life, from the pre-born to the elderly,
from the physically or mentally challenged to those nearing natural death,
has immeasurable value. We are therefore morally obligated to defend,
protect, and value all human life, especially the most vulnerable among us.
However, we also believe in the power of the gospel to redeem and restore.
There is forgiveness and healing for those who have participated in abortion
or any sin that violates the sanctity of human life through repentance and
faith in Jesus Christ. In Him, there is grace, mercy, and the promise of new life
(Psalm 103:8-12; 1 John 1:9; 2 Cor. 5:17). As followers of Christ, we are called to
speak the truth in love, extending both compassion and the hope of salvation
to all who seek forgiveness. (Gen. 1:26-27, 9:6; Psalm 139; Matt. 9:36, 14:14, 18:1-
6).

Statement on Biblical Marriage

We believe God is the Author of marriage. From the beginning, God willed
marriage to be a permanent, indissoluble, and fruitful covenant between one
biological male (“man”) and one biological female (“woman”). Marriage is,
therefore, not a mere societal or legal construct, but rather traces its origins to
God’s design and intention for the human person, ultimately revealing the
mystery of the nuptial union of Christ and His church. Intimate sexual activity
is a physical sign of this loving, covenantal communion and the complete
commitment of oneself to another, making possible a fruitful participation in
God’s work of creation. As such, God intended that sexual intimacy may only
occur within the bounds of the marital covenant. Any form of sexual
immorality disfigures God’s intention for human sexuality, offends God, and
corrupts the integrity of the Christian community. (Gen. 2:18-25; Mark 10:6-9;
Eph. 5:21-33; Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6).

Statement on Biblical Sexuality

We believe God created humanity in His own image as embodied souls. In so
doing, God created two types of bodies as distinct biological sexes: male and
female. He created these two sexes with the capacity for an intimate,
covenantal, and fruitful union. Preserving the real distinction written into these
two sexes by the author of creation is therefore essential to preserving God’s
intention for humanity. (Gen. 1:26-27; 1 Thess. 5:23).
Moreover, the body and the soul do not represent divisible realities. God
creates each person, both body and soul, with intentionality. However,
mankind’s fallen nature has the potential to result in a dualistic rejection of
either one’s spiritual nature or physical body. Rejecting such incomplete
conceptions of the human person, we therefore believe God intended the
human person to possess integrity of being, a unity of material and spiritual
realities. Because this ministry believes that Christ comes to restore all things
and heal the brokenness found in creation, we must only affirm conceptions
of human sexuality that conform with Christ’s restorative work in this world.
(Gen. 2:5-7; Jer. 18:6; Rev. 21:5).
Therefore, we believe that any form of sexual immorality (such as adultery,
fornication, cohabitation, homosexual behavior, rejection of one’s biological
sex, use of pornography, etc.) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt. 15:18-20; 1
Cor. 6:9-10).
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and
forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
(Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11).
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness,
respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed
toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with
Scripture nor the doctrines of the ministry. (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31; 1 John 3:14-
15; Eph. 4:31).

Statement on Gender

We believe that God, in His perfect wisdom and sovereignty, created mankind
in His image as male and female, establishing the unchangeable reality of
biological sex (Gen. 1:26-27; Matt. 19:4). Gender is not a social construct but a
divine design, and any attempt to reject or alter one’s God-given sex is a
rejection of His created order.
Because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23), we
recognize that those struggling with sexual sin or gender confusion need the
grace and truth of the gospel. Therefore, we call all people to repentance and
faith in Jesus Christ, who alone can redeem, restore, and transform hearts (1
Cor. 6:11; 2 Cor. 5:17). As Christians, we are committed to speaking the truth in
love (Eph. 4:15), upholding God’s design for gender, and ministering with
compassion to those in need of His saving grace.

Statement on Unity, Forgiveness, and Dignity

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of The Field’s
Edge as a part of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model
to our members and the community, it is imperative that all persons
employed by The Field’s Edge, members of the Board of Directors,
Chairpersons of Committees, and members of the Missional Community
agree to and abide by this Statement of Faith. (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-
16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22).
We recognize that while believers share unity in primary doctrines of the
Christian faith, there are differences in secondary and tertiary matters. Our
unity is built on the gospel, and we reject theological extremes that hinder our
witness or cause division. We reject hyper-Calvinism, which denies human
responsibility and discourages evangelism, and hyper-charismania, which
elevates spiritual experiences above the authority of Scripture. While we
affirm God’s sovereignty and the work of the Holy Spirit, we hold that all beliefs
and experiences must align with biblical truth and serve to build up the body
of Christ. (Romans 14:1-9; Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 2:1-4).
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and
forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
(Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). We also believe that every
person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.
(Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed
toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with
Scripture nor the doctrines of The Field’s Edge.

Statement of Final Authority on Matters of Faith and Conduct

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible
itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority
concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and
final source of all that we believe. For purposes of The Field’s Edge’s faith,
doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Chief Ministry Officer is The Field’s
Edge’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
